Conclusions

The number of unemployed persons in the observed period has reduced. This would be good news if it were not for the reduction in the number of employed persons, which could point to de-population trends.

The greatest reduction in unemployment was in VS County (13,81%). It is evident that women dominate in the unemployment structure. The percentage of unemployed women is the greatest in OB County (56%).

As for age, the largest number of unemployed belong to the following age groups:

-  20-24 years;
-  55-59 years;
-  25-29 years;
-  30-34 years.

The greatest unemployment level is in the age structure of young people (15-29), ranging from 28% to 31% of the total percentage of unemployed persons.

As for educational structure, the largest number of unemployer persons belong to the following groups:

-  high school up to three years and qualified and highly qualified worker;
-  high school up to 4 years;
-  completed primary school.

Although high school is obligatory in Croatia, experience shows that it is often not enough to get a job, therefore educational policies and work policies should incentivize continued education after high school. The Programme VRH gives additional incentives to these activities, named „Youth guarantee“.
